Roses for Relief: Give a Flower and Give Back

Every week Whole Foods Market imports Fair Trade roses from Ecuador, and when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country earlier this year, our floral buyers wanted to find a way to help the thousands of families displaced by the disaster. This week, individual long stem roses will be available for purchase in our floral departments for $2 each, and 100% of the proceeds will go toward a guaranteed $100,000 donation to Hogar de Cristo, an emergency home construction program. 

The non-profit builds temporary homes made of wood, cane and bampoo (local, natural and traditional materials) that are quick-and-easy to construct. This program gives families the breathing room they need to build a better house with more solid materials at a later...
